Update, July 25, 2011: It has been brought to my attention that this method no longer works. I do not know of any other solution.
To place a badge (or any custom HTML) on your Facebook Profile page follow the steps below. Note that the badge will appear in the left column, so must be narrow enough to fit in that location.
2) Next click on the “Browse More Applications” link
3) Search for “Profile HTML”
4) Click on the “Profile HTML” result:
5) Click on the “Go To Application” button:
6) Click “Allow” button:
7) You will see that the “Profile Box” tab is selected. You want to use this tab. Ignore “Profile Tab”. The text box will be full of the default HTML. Delete all of it.
8) Copy and paste the HTML into the text box and click the “Submit” button:
9) Click the “Add to Profile” button:
10) Click the “Add” button:
11) Click the “Keep” button:
12) You’re done. Note that you cannot change the text in the title where it says “Profile HTML”.
These steps use a special Facebook application named Profile HTML. There are probably other ways to accomplish this task. This is one way.
1) After logging into Facebook, find the “Applications” button at the bottom left of the page and click on it:
![]()

Removing the badge: On your profile page click on the pencil icon at the top of the “Profile HTML” box. This will open a menu. One of the options on the menu will be “Remove Box”. Click that option, confirm, and it’s gone.

I can’t find the applications page at the bottom left. Which page is it on? It’s certainly not on the home page or on the profile page.

Yes, Facebook recently changed their layout. I’ll have to update this post. In the meantime you can find the link to the “Applications” on the left side bar. It’s top option in the middle section.
However, you can do this now instead: From any page type “Profile HTML” in the search box (it’s at the top of the page, near the Facebook logo). As you type a number of options will appear directly below the search box. The first option should be the “Profile HTML” applications. Click on that, then go to step 5.

Hi there….one more question. Where can I create the html profile badge that will convert it to html so I can follow your instructions above to add it? Thanks.

Hi — seems Facebook is making more changes. There is now a warning for Profile Box that they will be going away soon so I added to Profile Tab instead. I got through Step 8 — even see my html badge in the preview — but can’t find the ‘Add to Profile’ button in Step 9. I assume this has to take place before I can add it via the “+” at the top of my profile.
